Workshop on Improving Investment Promotion Performance in Accessibility to Investors and Information Provision

The main objective of the Joint APEC-BOI-FIAS Workshop in Bangkok, Thailand was to support the improvement of the capabilities of participating APEC IPIs to service investors' needs during the initial stages of an investment decision. The workshop focused on the following aspects:

• Understanding the implications of the global downturn: Changes in the current FDI context and the implications for investment facilitation, promotion and aftercare;
• Supporting the foreign investor's site selection process and criteria;
• Understanding how IPA facilitation can influence the investor’s choice of location;
• Maximizing the use of the IPA website for effective investment facilitation;
• Supporting the information needs of foreign investors in the site selection process; and
• Understanding the role of sales skills and customer care in securing an investment.

The workshop was structured to achieve the optimal balance of practical teaching with good practice case studies from APEC economies as well as the active participation of attendees.
